94 Volvo 850 - Car would not start due to what it seemed like it wasn't getting fuel so the fuel pump was replaced and it wouldn't start, then the fuel pump relay was replaced

And it finally turned on. The next day however it wouldn't start and it was the battery. It seemed to drive fine for about a week then it began to feel like it wanted to shut off when ever it was iddle. Pressing on the gas seemed to help until now that it just shuts off. When driven on the freeway it seems to drive ok (I guess because I'm constantly pressing on the gas) but on the stop and goes at low speed it shuts off. Sometimes it comes back on immediately, sometimes it takes a while.The check engine light was on, diagnostic was done and they said it was the camshaft position sensor. That has been replaced and still hasn't fixed the problem. Like I said we have changed the fuel pump, fuel pump relay, battery, camshaft position, and a tune up.

Next we We have replaced the fuel filter and used a gumout fuel injector cleaner and still the same problem. Sometimes it turns on and sometimes it does not. When it does I press on the gas pedal to keep it running, but as soon as I take my foot off the gas pedal it shuts off, but sometimes pressing on the pedal doesn't make a difference and it still shuts off.

 

Unplug your MAF and try to start it....

Sounds like you have either a MAF or IAC issue

MAF: Part right after the air filter box.



IAC Valve: Just under the throttle body cover.

 

Mass Aif Flow sensor...That would do it..
