Default Fault code problem / car won't run

I have a strange fault which is stopping my 940 SE Turbo from running.

Car will run briefly for a short time before dying. I think the fault is with the fuel side.

Codes for test socket 6 read 1-1-1

When the car is working the codes for test socket 2 also read 1-1-1

BUT, I can tell when the car isn't going to run as the LED stays on all the time when the pin is in socket 6.

Now and again the light will go out and then the car will run for aminute before the light comes back on and the car dies.

The LED does go out when the pump primes the fuel for a second, if I start the car then it runs for a second and dies hence I'm sure it fuel

I have messed around with the pump relay but it appears to work.

It clicks when the ign is turned on and if I press the contactor by hand the fuel pump runs but the LED doesn't go out by doing this.

The suppression relay appears to be functioning?

I'm lost now and we need the car :-(

try unplugging the battery for ten minutes and e-connect, then re-check for fault codes after running engine. could be a lot of things. making sure all grounds are ok is a good first step too.

Go to www.stepbystepvolvo.com for free guide to 740 no-starts. May work for your 940.

The fault code reader can get squirrelly and I'm not sure how it's supposed to work with the engine running, only with the key in the on position.

So I'd forget about the fault codes and approach it with Freds flow chart like a regular no start.

Looks like it was the ECU, has now run for an hour with a second hand one in. Keeping fingers crossed.

Thanks Rob
