Something sounds funny.
Is the check engine light on?
Is the arrow on the dash flashing?

I believe that the economy/ sport controller is a transmission related module and shouldn't affect the motor.

then how come it only does it when its on the economy, i have had it on the sport side for a long time now and hasn't cut off not once. i tested it out before and put it in economy and it cut off when i was going slow to, not like the other times when i was in the high way. but i put it on sport and it dont shut off. should i change the crank positioning sensor? i believe thats the sensor that bolts to the top of the tranny. or should i check the economy/sport switch or the module it goes to??? thats for all the responce by the way

the few times i left it in economy and it shut off on me i didn't notice the check engine light and or the tranny light, i did notice one time that it cut off on me all the dash lights turned on. but thats about it. one day i was testing out different sensors by unplugging them while the car is on to see if i could pin point it that way but that cause the check engine light to come on, but when i went to clear the check engine light from underneath the hood it gave me more then one code if i could find the paper i wrote it down on i could give u the codes if u want?

If you could.
It sounds like you might have a problem with the nuetral position switch.(PNP)

That won't really help.
The shiftlock microswitch goes bad and causes that problem.
That is different than the other problem.

I would check the PNP switch for the first problem.

The second jack up one side of the car and try to move the like you are turning from side to side. But do it from the wheel and see if there is any play.

What causes the noise?
Is it going over a bump?
If so check the upper spring seat and the sway bar end links.

ok the other day i was driving my car , just left my house, and the car cut off and the switch in the middle console was on sport. that was the only time for now, i have it on economy again. now today i was cleaning the car and i decided to check for any codes, and i found to codes and the A side there was only one and it was 124, on the B side there was the other which was 122. i dont know if that code help u guys. now where is the neutral safety switch located at?

now with the niose in the front the niose only happens on sharp bumps, like if i was going over speed bumps slowly i wouldn't here it but say a pot hole then yes. i am thinking its the struts but i would think it would make the niose even over the speed bump? well i hope those codes help because i am trying to fix it to sell the car to my sis. thanks

I would check the PNP switch which is located on the top of the transmission.Look for the shifter cable on the trans. The pnp is the metal peice under the cable with the wires going to it.

Depending on which one on A you pulled the code from 124=Program selector faulty or short circuit to ground.(PNP) Switch

I would check the upper spring seats and the sway bar links.

You shold just change it.You should try to locate the special tool and borrow it if youy can.
That makes sure it is adjusted properly.

It is the metal peice on the shaft under the cable.Volvo can get them for you as well but might take a couple of days.
Im not sure who else would sell it.

well i dont know what this tool does and dont get how u would need one, but i am glad i am one of the lucky ones that it worked. i just glad so far that u was right about the sensor. and it didn't cost that much either 45 dollars thats all i was thinking it was going to be very expensive. now all i need to do it change the timing belt, and take care of that niose in the front which i think its the struts and the car is golden. although u have any recomendations on changing the transmission fluid and what fluid i could use. thanks a lot for that help.
