Hello...Im looking into purchasing a 1995 850 T5-R.

Here are my thoughts...

The car is very very clean! exerior, interior, even under the hood. It drives great and i was surprised by the power it had.

The Bad:
Odometer stopped working at about 124k
supposedly the car now has about 150k
Ignition switch doesnt have a spring in it....you have to start the car then pull he key back...nobig deal to me
The AC doesnt work right now, naturally being in Texas, this is my biggestt concern.

The owner says the AC worked up until a few days ago, she said it jus suddenly stopped. Im thinking its gotta be electrical, maybe an ECM burned out, but i dont know.

What thoughts do you have, the experts, \on this car?

Normally you would post this in the 850 section.

I will answer since I am here but next time post in the 850 section please.

The gear in the odometer broke. Somewhat easy fix with time.
I made a post about removing the dash pad to gain access to replace bulbs.
Others have also explained how to replace the gear.

Ignition switch is bad and needs to be replaced.

For the A/C it might be low on freon. The 850's have problems with the Evaperators.

Search the forum for more info on your quiestions.

she was asking $4500 before the AC went out...im thinking of offering her $3000 now.

 

If you can get it for 3k to $3500.00 I would say jump on it.

Maybe even 4k I would jump on it.
Would you be able to do the work your self?
If you have a shop replace the evaperator if it is bad that will be like 1k alone.
But the odometer gear is like a couple hundred for a shop to do.
The ignition switch is like $100.00 or so for a shop.

But you can save a ton if you can do the work your self.

your talking about the sticky...yes i have read it.

does the evap just go out like that? all of the sudded? it doesnt evewn blow hot air. is that one of the symptons?

 

No it isn't if it blows no air at all then most likely either the blower motor or resistor is bad.

Also do any of the lights on the panel come on?
Does the little A/C light or recirc light come on?
If not then the A/C panel is bad.(Best to find a used one) New one is like $600.00 if I remember correctly.

i was thinking somethingh simple like a resistor or a fuse because the owner said it stopped working all of the sudden

 

^What do you mean when you say it stopped working?

Not blowing air or not cold?

And if the light is flashing, you need to read the code from teh OBD-I box and find out whats wrong w/ your climate control.

i certainly will!! first thing will be to get the AC working then some window tint! followed by some new speakers.

 

ok...AC questions...

the lights on the unit work...it sounds like the compressor kicks on. but no air. my dad/mechanic thinks it could be the blower motor.

any thoughts from you guys?
