Wastegate mod question 1997 850T5
I was doing some reading in the wastegate mod by shortening the rod to make more boost. But, I am a little confused on this theory. To make more boost would you not want the wastegate to stay closed longer? So if you lengthen the rod rather than shorten it this would make the wastegate actuate later. Whereas if you shortened the rod it would open up sooner and bleed off pressure and not let you attain desired PSI. AM I correct in this theory? If not someone please explain differently.

1. Don't do this "MOD".
2. Yes people have done this and had ok results.
3. However this doesn't make it the right thing to do.
4. To make more boost, purchase a MBC at the very least.
5. To do it right get an ECU upgrade. Speedtuning USA $325, Upsolute $425 estimates, it may vary. Or go with a good tuner like IPD USA, RICA.

Yes if you were to do it then you would turn it in.
It is a toss up on opinions about doing it. Some people are dead set against doing it. Other people do it and feel a it makes the boost smoother and activate sooner with it closed some.
Some people do it and others refuse to do it.
The chip shouldn't affect the emissions at all.
