Default weird sympton

ok so last night i was just driving normally like my normal friday saturday night and it got warm so i turned on the A/C and all was good, within 5 minutes i had noticed that there was this dirty stanch coming from the vents, thinking it would pass we left it alone, turns out it didnt pass and the smell got worse, even to the point where i could see smoke inside the car and some coming out from under the hood and wen all music and such was turned off completely, u could hear a loud *** noise comign from inside the hood, from the inside of the car it sounded as if i was cooking somthing it sounded like it was bubbling insanly, but wen i head outside it was the most annoying grinding sound in the world, i pop my hood and the smell from inside the car is WAYYYY worse outside under the hood and the noise is just getting louder, basically i'm not 100% on wats causing this so i want to kind know if this has happened to any1?

however it does sound like it comes fro mthe left side( where the belt is) and i can actually see some metal shavings on the little palte sittign there and i'm not even sure as to wats grinding or wat made it start? :s

anybody with assitance please help, i dont want my 850 to go down

ok sooo i had talked to a fellow 850 owner whos done it up and everything, he took a look at it, and we noticed that the very bottom pulley is wobbling a little bit, and he said that my A/C clutch could be not catching, so he said i have to jimmy a few thin pieces or somthing in between to make it catch, has any1 ever heard of this problem? or an easy way to fix this? could this be the solving for my loud grinding?

It might need to be reshimmed or the pulley (bearing)might be seizing up

would any of those things basically tell me y all of a sudden it grinds insanly? like wen it grinds, it gets LOUD and wen i pop the hood it kinda smells like somthings burning? would those be symptons for both these problems? and for the reshimming i was told to do it from the outside between the clutch/pulley could this work?

If you smell rubber burning then I will bet it is more likely the pulley locking up or the compressor itself locking up. If the A/C is off does it make the noise?
I would say it is not shimming. I made a post about doing it the proper way.
I am going to update it soon with pics of the tools I use to do it.

wen the A/C is off its not as loud but the noise is still there but as soon as the A/C is turned on and slowly moved up it gets alot louder and the dirty smell or somewhat burning rubber smell comes on quiet a bit inside the car and under the hood, honestly it actually sounds kind of scarey in the car, aswell i know for sure its that bottom pulley because that pulley kind of wobels around and my fellow 850 owner did the "test" to see if the clutch is catching and it wasnt

I would remove the belt and spin the pulley. If it makes noise when the belt it off I would look at the pulley the belt rides on. I will bet the bearing is bad.

honestly in your opinion, is it easy to take the belt off and put it back on within a short span of time? liek i've never done it to be honest, the only thing is i'd have to pay attention to how its placed

BUT the other thing thats weird is the noise NEVER happened to me, ever, it only started when i like said last night i turned on the A/C and it honestly went right away so i'm not doubting for once second that it could be something involving the A/C

The belt is pretty easy to remove and install.

You need a 1/2" drive breaker bar & a 3/4" adapter to relax the belt tensioner. Both can be purchased at Sears Craftsman (Made in the USA).
