Default what brake pads to get?

I originally put cheap pads and rotors from auto zone on my 850 when I got it. The pads gripped all right, but squealed bad. I got some PBR deluxe pads, not as much squealing as the others, but still some and stopping is much worse.
Soooo, I suppose I have to buy one more set of pads.

What would you recomend?

I don't know what brand, but i got the slightly high performance pads from Bap Geon for $47 and they grip better than stock. They squeel just a bit at low speeds b/c they are harder than factory. I would go with those, or volvo factory pads.

The R I just bought has pads on it that are supposed to be better than Volvo pads. They are squeeling and I hate that sound. I have a set of Volvo pads that I bought for my 94 and never put them on. I am going to put them on the 97 R. I tried other pads before and switched back to Volvo pads.

I couldn't take the dusting and wear of the Volvo pads on the C-70 and went to Brembo rotors and used NAPA ceramic pads. Make sure that you spray the backs of them with CRC "disc brake quiet" and they will be squeak free..................guaranteed. NAPA's ceramic pads are less prone to fade than the Volvo pads................not that you are going to take a Volvo to a driver's school or track day..................

I went ahead and got the volvo factory pads. They also sold me some BG stop squeal which they said is good and they use it on all their volvo brake jobs.

I always use the silicon based brake grease that is supposed to be used for the pads.I have never had any problems as of yet.
