Default what kind of springs do you guys run

I need to change my shocks on my 97' 850R Wagon soon and I figured I may as well do the springs while I was at it. I would like to change to something that rides ok and handles as well as a Volvo Wagon can. I was thinking IPD, anyone have much experience with these? and which shocks did you use with these springs?

Thanks,
Chet

IPD's are great. Great stance, tucks a little. I am running H&R's on Boge and Bilstien's.

I have run bilsteins on my cars in the past. do you recommend the touring level or HDs with the spring rate on the H&Rs, and on the IPDs

On my 850, I ran APEX SUSPENSION SYSTEMS lowering springs.

Drop was about 1.6" all around. The ride was a little harsh, but I liked the handling they gave me.

As for shocks/struts... KONI Yellows or FSD's, BILSTEIN HD if you want upgraded performance. If you want stock performance with an aftermarket brand Bilstein TC's will do the trick for you.

I recommend the touring level. I think they have a great balance of handling and comfort. If you're looking for performance, go with the HD's. H&R's have a great stance, great stiffness with the "I'm not lowered" look.

Yup, all depends on what kind of ride and drop you're going for. I will be putting on Bilstein HDs and Kilen lowering springs, which probably give me a pretty harsh ride, but will have great handling, which is all I care about. I have a friend who mods and tracks a 940 and an S40 and when I told him I was thinking about going with Bilstein TCs he laughed at me and said he could blow those out in a week. So it all depends on your preferences and driving style and how much you want to spend.

Great, I think that touring is probably the way I will go with shocks and struts. Does anyone here have any experience with these along with the IPD springs? just trying to see what the ride was like. And I like the stance that the IPD V70 has on their site.

Thanks again guys,
Chet

They're good shocks/struts, they should last quite a bit longer.

I am running weitec front struts and springs and H&R springs and OEM shocks on the rear.
The drop was a little over 1 inch. The ride is the same as with all the OEM parts.

whats quiet a bit longer? my dads kinda tripping out and thinks its fishy that my buddy took them out of his moms car because it was too stiff for her....

heres the setup i'm getting from him

turbo xs MBC
some sort of front strut bar
H&R springs
koni front and back suspension
= 450$

good deal?

the konis just talked to him have give or take 60k-70k on them
i overheard him and think i wanted to hear less then 50k lmao

i can get pictures of them in the morning (kind of a bit rusty :s dont know if that matters)

is there anyway i can positively check to make sure they can still be ok for longer period?

ALSO my dad recomended to go see a mechanic to be 100% sure they will last... thoughts?

BTW SOOOO SORRY FOR STEALING YOUR THREAD <3

450 for all that is pretty good. Koni yellows are the adjustable ones, so if they were too stiff they could have softened them. If they're the non adjustable, then they're FSDs, which are just as good as yellows. I guess you never know. I mean, I still have original shocks in the rear, and my struts made it 200k. So I wouldn't be surprised if they had another 50k in them.

o yea they r adjustable yellows i have the **** with me but from what i've read about them even on the softened side they were still a bit stiff?

but theres no way to tell how long they would last eh?

my dads making me trip and i'm beginign to wonder if i should take everything off his hands except the konis and just buy a whole new set of koni yellows? what should i give for the stuff without the konis if it comes down to that?

Prolly around 250. You can get Koni struts/shocks from EST right now for about 560 shipped with VS discount, so it would cost a couple hundred more, but you're getting all new suspension.

Same thing with me, I was considering going with Bilstein Touring, read some reviews, talked to some big suspension nuts, and I figured if I'm going in there and taking them out, might as well do it once and do it right, so I got Bilstein HD.

Well, I figured about 150 for the springs, H&R are really good springs. Depending on what kind of strut brace, about a hundred, and then the MBC is thrown in for free as a thank you for buying his stuff.
