I have the 17" Titans, they say run 205-45/17. Then they say tire pressure should be 32 psi I think. The tag in my fuel door is wrong because it was replaced with a donor car.

Anyway, I'm running 215-45/17's and after 30,000 miles I have decent tread in the center and I'm bolding on the outer edges. I have been running about 34-36 psi. Should I go to 40 or 42?

 

I run 205-55/16 and I run them at 45psi all the way around and my driver side front has a minor leak. It balds around the edges and none of the others do. They're all even. I would say 45psi would probably work just fine.

 

I've got the stock 16" wheels on mine and I've always run 35 psi across the board. My rear wheels have been fine for 4 years however my front tires start to bald around the edges about every year and a half. I've always attributed this to drifting and it being front wheel drive.

 

I run 41 I believe. I think that's what my gas door recommends.

2 of mine have a very slow leak. I check them every week and typically have to add a little once a month or so.

 

Well, I noticed today while filling up that I misread the decal on the back of the gas door

41# is the spare tire. The fronts are supposed to be 36 and the rears 41.

 

Your tire should have the PSI written right on it.

Boxpin: i didn't mean to offend you...i know that a LOT of people think that the stamp on the tire is the pressure to inflate to...i used to manage a Sears auto center and saw it all the time. I got trained on tire stuff by Michelin, otherwise i wouldn't have known either. The other misconception that i saw a lot was people misunderstanding tire size designation - like thinking that a 50 series tire was wider than a 60 series, etc...don't sweat it - you're certainly a lot more knowledgeable than most people i know.

 

Well, besides not having my pressure sticker inside the fuel door flap, I'm not running the proper tire size for the rim. Didn't know if there was a guide for things like that.

 

Besides the pressure, I went to Sam's Club because they use to have the best rotate & balance price. Those folks would not touch the wheels. Said something about the uneven wear and the fact that the wear was below "x" in some spots bla, bla, bla. What happened to the good old days when you could tell a mechanic to do a & b and they would do it? I mean really, I can't get my tires rotated because they are not new enough for you?

 

They've probably been sued at some point over something like that, or their insurance company doesn't allow them to do it.

Our society is too litigious.

 

Seen a T-5R fuel door sticker today. Pressure on the standard tires are suppose to be 36. So I've been running just a tad low. I'm up to 40 psi now.

 

In my owners manual (australia) it recommends for harder driving on the 17" volans 39/41 psi

i was running 36 on my old 215/45's and was still scrubbing the outer edges...

so, i've gone to 41 all round now...
