Default What is this in the trunk?

I had to remove the interior of the trunk to get at the fuel pump and I also wanted to install a trailer hitch wire set up.
When I took out the passenger side panel I found this:

What is it and what does it do? I've looked at it but still can't make out what it is for. What is the pull wire for?

Look in your owners manual....

If I had to guess.. it releases the solenoid that holds the fuel door locked closed somehow, in case the solenoid fails and you can't get the door open to add gas?

Johnwartr is right. I use it on occasion when my fuel door lock jams. Smart thing to add in.

Right I found something that looks nothing like my picture on 6:16 and it is the fuel door flap bypass.

Thanks for the help.
