Wiper problems

My wipers suddenly stopped working this weekend, of al time in the middle of a downpour. They froze in mid stroke and wouldnt budge. I pulled over and checked the fuse, about all I could do at the time and it was ok. Since I was already late for a flight I did a little Ace Ventura driving...
When the wiper switch is put in any speed I do hear some electrical noise, but no action from the wipers. I tried searching, nothing came up, so im gussing this isnt a common issue?

if mtor is humming bun not moving you most likely have a mechanical failure of some sort. remove motor and see if the wipers move then also check motor with arm linkage removed to see if it rotares.
all the relays do is supply voltage and if you are getting power you should look elsewhere.

The only relay for the front wipers is the intermittent wipe relay at position 9 in the central electrical unit.
The wiper motor is under the black plastic cover just in front of the windscreen. It is easy to access if you have torx drivers.
Sorry - we must have been writing at the same time.

Hey dudes,
Count me in on this one - we had a bad snowfall the other night and wipers froze to the window. Tried turning them on and of course they wouldn't move so I pulled them away from the windshield and still nada. Fuse looks good, motor is making some mechanical noise so that's a good sign but no motion on the wipers. I'm going to take a look this evening and see what's up, keep you posted, post whatever you find out yourself and maybe it's something super simple like a slip ring or easy mech. fix - thx! Len

Okay, turns out it was very simple - the nut that secures the motor to the mechanics that turn the wipers simply came off and I found it and a washer sitting in the body just beneath the assembly. I was surprised that it didn't use a lock washer so I put one in there, lined it all up and i'm back in business yahoo! Total cost for this repair = 0 dollars.
