Default C30 Audio questions - aux input, but no aux selector and USB/iPod navigation

Hi, new UK 2010 C30 owner.
My audio has an aux input in the centre console/armrest along with an iPod and USB input.
The iPod and USB inputs work fine but my head unit has a CD, not a Mode button and I can't select AUX as a result - I understood that the presence of a physical aux input meant you had aux - it seems really odd for a 2010 vehicle to not support AUX, but in my case to physically install it but then not make it usable via the head unit?!

Second issue is that the navigation of USB and iPod is frustratingly basic - it seems that to navigate what in my case is a large number of root folders, I have to always start from the top - there is no way to go "back" from a currently playing song, to the browse location I was at to select that song. So for example, I browse through to artists beginning "J", select a song, but can't go back from the currently playing song, to the menu position where I selected that song.
Specifically, I can't go back to artists beginning "J" instead when I press "enter" when the song is playing, it goes right back to the top (artists beginning with "A") - this is maddening - have I missed something? Is there really no way to go back to the previous "page" like in any normal browsing function?!

Thanks in advance for any guidance.
