C30 Judder When Engine is Cold
Hi,
New to the forum, be gentle!
Have owned by C30 1.6 (2008) R Design for 2 years now, car has just passed the 50,000 mile mark.
I've noticed (especially with the increasingly damp mornings) that when I am pulling away in first gear, there is a 'judder', the higher the revs go when pulling away, the more this accentuates the 'judder'.
It doesn't do this in any other gear, only first gear when pulling away. Normally after 3-5 minutes (presumably as all of the components are starting to warm up) the 'judder' disappears. I noticed this last year, but it seems to progressively be worsening.
I've rang my local Volvo dealership (Brindley Wolverhampton) and they have not received any C30's coming in with similar symptoms. Unfortunately they are telling me to diagnose the problem, they will have to remove the gearbox to look at the clutch (that's where they think the problem may be), which will cost me £££ in labour charges.
Has anyone else had a similar problem that they managed to diagnose and find a solution for?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Dan.

Hi Dan
I'm having the same problem with my 1.8 2008 c30 I'm at around the 44000k mark on my motor.
After a little bit of experience with cars previously I'm assuming it's down to it needing a good service. I'd presume the spark plugs are causing the problem. I will be servicing my car hopefully in the next or so, hopefully if this solves it I will let you know!
Also it sounds like your not far from me, I live around wednesbury so probably saw you knocking about.
