Do C30 engines use oil
Just curious, I have an S70 which has always used a little bit of oil from day one. Wondering if the C30 engine suffers from the same issue? I am looking at buying a 2009 C30; thanks.
yep...when a customer has excessive oil consumption like on the v-8 and the new inline 6's..we replaced the piston rings..and the engine seals and the head. and yes..i agree the older engines that used conventional oil do "use" some amount. the newer engines that use synthetic oils are built with a closer tolerance and don't "use" oil. when i got my 2008 C30 6 months ago with 73k miles on it the first oil change i did i measured to see if my engined used any oil because of the turbo. and guess what...7 quarts out...7 quarts in. no oil loss whatsoever. And yes..i worked at Volvo for 7 years.
and i am not aware of any spec volvo has for engine oil usage. However..i am not going to get into a huge pissing match about oil. the T-5's are great engines with almost zero issues. I have said my peace and will leave it at that.
