Default Key Fob buttons don’t work. Help!

Purchased a used 2008 Volvo C30. Only came with one key fob.

dash message came up saying remote key battery was low. Next day the fob stopped working, wouldn’t lock or unlock doors. So replaced battery but it still doesn’t work.

dealer tested the key and they said it’s still sending signal but car isn’t receiving it. They said it may be the antenna, receiver or module. They would need to diagnose it which cost $165 and it may cost anywhere from $100-$2500 to fix it depending on what the issue is.

I read on lime that some other people have had the same issue and they were able to get the fob to work by disconnecting the car battery while the key is in ignition set to on, letting it sit disconnected over night and then reconnect batter while key is still set to on position....and their key fob started working.
anyone experience this?

could it be a fuse that’s blown?

any insight or thoughts on how to fix this please let me know. Finances are tight bc of Covid so I’m trying to figure this out as cheaply as possible, without causing more issues.
coild I hurt the car by disconnecting the car battery while the key is in the ignition set to on?

Hi, I’m having exactly the same issue now with my 2007 C30. Did you ever get this sorted? If so how? Thanks
