Default Key Fob not responding after replacing battery

The battery in my key fobs have died and i replaced the batteries and now they are not working. I have tried 3 different batteries but the remote locks lights or panic alarm do not work from the key fob. The car still starts and runs from both keys, but the remotes do not. Please help! Do i need to get them reprogramed or is there something i am missing?

Hi,

I had this exact same problem, it happened to both of my keys for my 2008 C30. I too replaced the batteries but had no luck. Took it to Volvo Brindley (Wolverhampton) and they re-programmed both keys at a cost of £121. £41 for the software and £80 for labour.

I did search around, another Volvo dealership (Erdington) tried to tell me I needed to buy new key fobs as they couldn't be re-programmed!

Hope this helps,
Dan.

Hello,

So, I suffered the same issue and here's my soltuion....

One fob ran out of battery. I then used the backup as when I changed the battery, it didn't work. The second eventually ran out of battery too. I then bpuggt two new batteries and replaced with neither fob working.

I read all the forums about reprogramming etc, I checked the connections and gave them more resistance, and even turned the batteries upside down as my mind was telling me to at least try it. While the battery was upside down, I noticed a little warning sign I thought was part of the battery. It turns out, the little warning sign was a sticker preventing contact with the god damn bottom connections. It is not immediately obvious, so run you fingernail over both sides to remove any possible stickers preventing contact.

Both were working as soon as I did this.

Best of luck 👍
