RE: key fob battery
It does not reset the code if you remove the battery. If I remember correctly, the code is permanent in each Fob. Its the car that has to accept the signal from each FOB. If you look on e-bay you can find some fobs for a decent price. There was a post on here about how to reprogram for the new fobs, im not sure if it works on all volvos or only certain models. you may have to take it to the dealer to get re-programed. Good luck!

RE: key fob battery
Changing out the battery will not cause you to lose the "code". You do not tell us the year of your c70 however from my own experience from my 02 c70 only the dealer will be able to program your "new" remote. It is NOT an inexpensive procedure and is akin to the ignition key that has an "anti theft" chip implanted in it. That key is also quite costly. Unfortunately I have gone through both procedures.

RE: key fob battery
The battery was placed into the fobs housing as the original one was. The positve side is placed downward, and the smaller diamter surface is placed upwards towards the electronics. I figured that it shouldn't require reprogramming being that it indicated how to perform this task in the owners manual.
The other key fob works fine, thank god. The car starts fine with the fab that I changed the battery in.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am hoping this does not require a trip to the dealer.

Hi
I have a Volvo V70 MKI, and have recently tried to change the battery in one of my key fobs, however it does not seem to work, despite the new battery. The fob worked until a couple of days ago, but was getting progressively weaker, until yesterday when it stopped working. Now, even after the battery change it doesn't work.
Will I need to get all my fobs reprogrammed?

On my 2001 C70 I changed the battery without any problems, I'm not sure about the newer models though. Also, if you need a new keyfob case IPD sells them. Here's a link to the ones for the old model C70s.
