New alternator fitted days ago, but now another alternator problem
Hello, regarding my VOLVO C30
I have had a recent breakdown and was told that my alternator and drive belt needed replacing which I duly did.
Then on the first journey after getting it fitted, I broke down again with the same problem as the first. (Loss of power steering, ABS brakes etc etc) Upon getting recovered I was told that I had a faulty alternator even though I had just had it replaced. SO i got towed back tp Plymouth.
Upon taking my car to the garage, I have been told upon testing that there is not a problem with the alternator and that everything is working just as it should be!?!?
HAs anyone else had similar problems with their VOLVO C30?

What brand of alternator was installed? Cheapo rebuild, auto parts store brand or Bosch? The "new" alternator may stop working after it gets hot - like when it stopped charging as you were driving. You may want to own an inexpensive volt/ ohmmeter so you can see if the alternator is charging yourself the next time this occurs.
Hello, thanks for the reply. I will have to find out what brand it was. Funnily enough, you said about it getting hot. The day I picked up the car there was terrible traffic and what was normally a four-hour, 200 mile drive was a 6 hour drive and still 60 miles short of my destination. So that might have been a factor.
Thanks for the advice about the Ohmeter. The garage I took it to showed me through their meter that it was charging ok etc, but on the day of the breakdown it was not according to the recovery guy.
