Default New Battery... Car Alarm Won't Stop Going Off

Hi,

Can anyone help?

The battery went on our 2009 C30 - the key fob went too, so we got a new car battery thinking this would fix the fob aswell.... but when we fitted the new battery the immobiliser wouldn't stop going off... the key fob still wasn't working either..

If we disconnect the new battery the immobiliser stops going off, but obviously that isn't very useful

Any suggestions?

How many miles on the car? What happened with the previous battery to have it changed? Was the new battery installed by Volvo (same model)?

The alarm went off right after plugging the new battery?

Alarm could be triggered by a smaller battery, or by a discharged battery (in case the alternator doesn't charge properly).

Before installing a new battery, insert the key fob in position II to prevent electrical issues.

Why do you keep telling people this? It is not true at all.

And a battery with lower CCA will not trigger the alarm.

Have you tried using the second key which came with the car (in case if its a key fob issue)?
