Recurring starting problem C30 T5
We have a 2009 C30 T5. Over the past several months, it's developed an issue which I'll try to describe:
When trying to start the engine, I turn the key; dash lights light up as they should, and there's a slight 'click' or other noise, but the engine/starter won't turn over at all. On the 2nd try, it starts normally. Every time. The experience reminds me of when you have a battery going dead and it has power, but not enough to turn the engine over. The thing is, this battery is only a few months old, so that isn't the problem.
I was thinking maybe it's a starter issue, but in my 30+ years driving experience, a starter either fails completely or works - it doesn't work sometimes and not others.
My concern is that this is happening more and more frequently (as in a few times per week now). It's totally random as to when it happens.
Trying to get a handle on what this might be before we get stranded somewhere with a major repair bill. Any suggestions on what I should have checked (I am not a mechanic) is greatly appreciated! Thanks
