RepairShop: CEL "Nothing Wrong" C30
Have been taking my 2008 C30 Ver 2.0 to a non-dealer ASE Certified Master Tech since moving away from my original dealer a couple of years ago. I have had the car serviced faithfully and have had no problems. A few weeks ago had the car in for 82,500 mi checkup & to check into a Check Engine Light (CEL) that came on (for the first time in life of the car). I had not noticed anything wrong with the car. Neither did the tech. It took them awhile to figure out the the gear selector module and blind needed to be replaced. ($400) Everything else looked great; had the oil changed. Now, about a week later the CEL came back on. Brought car back into the shop, and I was told despite the CEL alighting, "nothing is wrong" with the car. I was also told to have the CEL shut off, I would need to have the software updated (circa $200 charge). Has anyone else had a problem with a C30 CEL staying on for "no reason"?
About an hour after I posted to this forum, the shop called and said my C30 did have the latest software update installed. Even so, they could still find nothing wrong, so they shut off the CEL. If it shows up again, I plan to get a second opinion from a dealer, even though it'll be a bit of a haul for me to get there. Thank you for your help.
