Nothing worse than getting the wrong parts
So I was working on putting the car back together tonight, and realized that one of the parts I got was wrong. I got online to see if I had ordered the wrong part or been sent the wrong part....turns out that both are correct.
FCPgroton lists only one breather hose from the flame trap to the block, and for 1994 there should be two listed. Guess which one does NOT fit my car. I ordered part number 1271771, which is what was listed as the correct hose. In reality I need part number 1271653.
it sucks because I really needed this car back on the road in the next couple of days. the loaner vehicle I have right now has to go back to the person I am borrowing it from on Friday.
I'm screwed unless they fix this and send me the part overnight.

old hose is completely destroyed. That's the reason I am replacing it to begin with. Plus if i do the job twice, im doing 3x the work (rebuild, 2nd teardown, and another rebuild) which I frankly do not have the time for right now.
For what it's worth, I had a similar experience with Groton with a fuel pump relay for my 96 non-turbo 850. Wrong part listed on their site. Got it, didn't work, mailed it back, reordered the correct part. Paid for all the shipping myself, despite my letters to them suggesting that this wasn't totally great customer service. Granted, it's a complicated world, but still…
We'll do. I'd have bought it locally and just not worried about it, but the part is 3 days out at the volvo dealership too, so that wouldnt have gotten me anywhere.
I got an email from FCP today and this was what it said:

Hello,
Have not had fitment issues with this particular part number in the past. I used OEM volvo diagrams to put this kit together and haven't changed the kit since. If you like I can ship you out the part number you are requesting and simply refund you for the part you have were you to return them. I just need to be sure that the address is the same.
Now don't get me wrong, I appreciate him taking care of it, but time is still gonna be an issue here. I also felt like the email was a little condescending, like its MY fault that i got the wrong part. I ordered what their website said fit the car, and it didnt fit, so i kinda do NOT see how that could have been my fault. Oh well, at least I'm getting resolution.

Just to let everybody know, I got the part in today. I can still get this thing back on the road for monday.
They sent it and didnt charge me for the part or for shipping. Thanks for coming through FCP.
