Fellows Volvo-ites... long time lurker, first time poster.
My C70 convertible has 95K miles, and it started shifting hard at start off and in bumper to bumper traffic. took it to dealer and their diagnosis:
Tranny has water in it due to water leak, likely in radiator.
Their suggested solution: replace entire tranny, radiator and water lines.
My QUESTION: I spoke to my mechanic, who's familiar with these and he also repairs and fabricates all sorts of components for exotics. He said I should replace the radiator and cooling lines and flush out the tranny completely and thoroughly and replace fluids with higher end fluid/synthetic? to assure smooth shifting. Then I should sell the car.
What do you guys think? When I drive on the freeway it's fine at speed and if i'm not in traffic too long, she doesnt' screw up her shifts at all. Have I evaded a bullet here? Think it'll work?
