1998 C70 WILL NOT START HELP
I have a 1998 C70, yesterday I tried to start it nothing. All lights, radio went on but still was not starting. Then when I had the car towed to the shop, the key was turning past position 3 still no start. The guy finally got it started saying he held it at position 2 jiggled the key and it started. We believe it's the ignition lock , can anyone help me with this??? Thank you,
Eliza

Welcome to the forum.
This is a common problem on the 850 and S/V/C70. The electrical portion of the ignition switch becomes very worn.
It is not a hard job to replace it. Take off the steering column covers, locate the bottom end of the switch, remove the two screws that holdit to the ignition lock, disconnect the plug and replace in the reverse order.
If you are in the US you can get one from http://www.fcpgroton.com.

To me Bill, it sounds like a classic immobilizer antenna is on its way out. I would look into that rather inexpensive part prior to goint to the ingnition switch. That is costly as then you need to change out the door lock and boot lock if you want to use a single key. I appreciate that you are speaking of the guts only but often time the entire switch needs changing out.
