The front speakers are not working properly, only a low bass comes out of the bottom right speaker. The center speaker is fine (dolby pro logic) but the dash right side & 2 front door speakers are not working properly, any suggestions please? I saw something about the speaker amp is under the passenger seat?

 

The 3 cd units don't have an amp in the unit other than for the center speakers. All the other speakers are powered by the external amp.

Amp appears to be mounted in the trunk on a c70, a lot of other Volvos it is mounted under the rf seat. Note there are 4 crossovers in the system 16/51, 16/52, 16/28, 16/27

 

Great, now if I wanted to go down to the single alpine cd player. My guess is I'll lose the front center speaker right?

 

I did a quick run out and didn't see anything in the trunk. But I do have a few plug in's under the seat that look to be into an amp?

 

Unless you find a 5 channel sound system. The 901 is the only one (in that semi double din style) that Volvo built. (that I've seen in the US)

Here's the complete component location page. The amp won't be exposed in the trunk - it will be under the trim panel. Note there are only 4 speaker outputs on the amp - 1 to each corner of the car. So if any speaker in the group of two or three in each corner is working normally - the amp is doing it's job - leaving only the crossovers to be a problem.

The speakers themselves could also be bad. I got tired of replacing door speakers due to water damage and replaced all window seals and replaced the dynaudio system with jl’s and a jbl dsp4086 amp.

 

How does it sound vs Dynaudio? Thanks
