Default 2002 c70 VVT solenoid Crankshaft position sensor - new design, wrong plug

Hey, guys. New to this forum. I was wondering if someone could help me. I have a 2002 c70 thats throwing the P0013 (Camshaft position actuator circuit open bank 1) and P1332 (Manufacturer control) It did come and go a few times by itself, but now it's on for good. The car did sit and wasnt ran much for about a year due to a cracked radiator. I would let it warm up a few minutes and move in a few times a month for street sweeping, but that's about it. Now that I replaced the radiator, now im trying to fix this. I checked around and i guess the VVT (or whatever its called) can get gunked up. So i figure easy fix to just swap it out since its right on top. Well, I ordered a new one, but the plug on the new one is difference. On the original, it came straight out the back of the solenoid with a big plug, the new design one plugs next to the solenoid with a small plug. I thought maybe the 3rd part ones are different than the factory, but the new factory Volvo ones are the same design with the little plug. Can someone tell me where I can find the plug pigtail? is it worth trying to clean the old one first? It's driving me crazy trying to find it. I tried to search the forum, but maybe im calling it the wrong thing. Thanks for any help

It looks like the genuine volvo part is 31251211 but most dealer sites show that as no longer available. You can try a Volvo friendly store like FCP or IPD to see if they can give you some guidance on the correct replacement part - or you can even try buying a used part on eBay to see if the connector looks correct for your original. If your original didn't throw a code to begin with, you may have some luck taking it apart, removing any gunk/polishing parts etc. Search for some older posts (particularly on the S40 board) for some tips on R+R on the VVT set up.

Thanks for the reply. My solenoid is 1275579, if i remember 31251211 supersedes it. The 31251211 is the new style from what I remember and not the original one. Some places even show 211 as the original, but from speaking with Volvo its not. I cant believe the pigtail is that hard to find. I might have to just make something up. Only got a few months before I have to get it smogged for registration here in CA
