2006 C70 A/C Blows Hot on Driver, Cold on Passenger
Folkls,
I'm really hoping that someone can help me with this.
Suddenly, yesterday, with the temp set on max cold (Hey, I just moved to AZ!), the a/c started blowing very heated air out of the 2 driver's side air vents. The compressor is running fine as the air out of the passenger's side is still nice and cold. Don't have/can't find a Chilton's for this model so I can't determine what the likely culprit is or where I should start looking for a valve or switch or something that may have gotten stuck in the wrong position. This may not even be the cause.
Can anyone help me?? You can respond via the forum or directly to my email if you're shy (xavierw@aol.com). I really want to avoid having to take this to to the shop when it's likey something simple that I can handle myself.
Thanks, in advance, for any help you can give me.

Hi,
Although I only heard from one other person from this forum, and he was having the same problem, I thought I'd share the solution that I came up with.
I set the driver's side temp to as high as it would go and left it there for a full day of operation. The vents had already been closed from the malfunction. The next day after starting the car, but before driving it (don't know if that had anything to do with it or not) I changed the temp on the driver's side to as low as it would go. I felt at the vent and it was no longer radiating oven-hot air so I opened the vent and viola! Cold air was blowing form the vents!
I suspect that all I did was cause the actual temperature to match what was being sent from the vent. The readjustment reset the the control and it began to work properly again.
I don't know if this will work for anyone else but it worked for me and didn't cost me a penny.
Good luck!!

Unfortunately, this one doesn't have a happy ending.
The problem returned and with summer rapidly approaching, I took it to my local mechanic. Apparently the condenser was shot and had to be replaced. $1,200 later, my a/c is working as good as new. And I'm back to a tight budget.
