2007 C70 input please
Very interested in getting wife a c70. I found this 2007 at a local BMW dealer. The dealer has a very strong reputation and seems very eager to make a deal but want to get a idea from some owners what i might be getting myself into.
Volvo : C70 T5 | eBay
I have never owned a Volvo and obviously this car is well out of warranty. A few questions - what are some standard problem areas I should look for in evaluating this car? What are some likely repairs I might expect from a Volvo with this mileage in the near future?
Finally, is the retractable hard top as totally cool as it looks
It seems like it would cost a fortune to fix!
Thanks for any input!

it's a beautiful car. but you and your wife already know that. i love my 08 I bought 4 months ago with 27k miles and pre owned warranty until 6/2014.
it's based on the p1 platform shared with the s40/v50/c30 volvos as well as mazda3 and european ford focus. t5 engine is pure volvo, very reliable.
maintenance is pretty straightforward 5000-7500 mile oil changes, every 15k air filters, brake pads, etc. supposedly no maintenance transmission (although i plan to service it at 40-50k), rarely service plugs, etc. straightforward a local independent can definitely take care of for you, or you do yourself.
some folks have had odd window regulators or convertible top squeaks or leaks... others complain of uneven rear tire wear due to excessive camber. but it seems they are rare and fixable. keeping the roof seals treated and soft will help minimize squeaks and leaks. replacement adjustable rear camber arms from a mazda3 or focus are about $150 if you have uneven wear. i've been fortunate not to have had that problem.
the money saved buying used, set aside if the roof has problems... it's the price you pay for a pretty convertible over an accord.
if it goes for anywhere near what it's listed right now, you'll be cruisin in style for a very affordable price.
i looked at miata (reliable, economical, wimpy styling), sky/solstice (exterior styling is awesome, interior is cramped, cheap and poor ergonomics), bmw (ugly, overpriced, expensive maintenance, ugly), eos (unreliable, wimpy styling)
c70 just checked all the right buttons for me. gorgeous quiet coupe with top up. sleek convertible with top down. actually usable back seats and trunk. awesome seats and easy to use center stack.
yours is nicer than mine with the amazing dynaudio and xenon lights.... definitely wish i had those features (and bluetooth). but all in all, i love it and hope to keep it for a long time.
