Exclamation 2008 C70 Hardtop makes clicking noise/misses locking into place on occasion

Hello,

I searched the forum trying to see if anyone else was having this same trouble but I couldn't fine anything on it. Anyway... this is the issue I'm having with my hardtop and I'm hoping someone knows what it is so I know whether I need to take it in for service or not.

When I push the button to start bringing the top back up, it makes this loud pop/click sound and it seems to move smoothly as it's going up, but sometimes when it gets ready to lock into place it misses the notches in the top where its supposed to lock into and I have to stop it, hit to the other button to start the open process and then try to hit the close button again to see if it will re-adjust. On one occasion I had to open it all the way again and then then close it and it adjusted into place correctly the second time.

Has anyone had this same problem and/or know what it causing it? Thanks.

It may be the hydraulic pump that controls the hydraulic cylinders that control your roof.

Erin, I've had my 2008 C70 for 3 months now and I heard and felt a (single) loud "pop" that reverberated to the drivers door. Obliviously a mechanical misalignment issue, but thank goodness it has only happened the once.

Personally, if I was experiencing your symptoms, I would take it in soon because you might be encouraging a little problem to develop into a true major $$ repair. This operation should be flawless and positive latching very time.
This stuff don't ever heal itself either.

That would be my rationale.
Good luck with it and do post back what you find out!

I have a 2011 C70 that I bought April.

The top worked perfectly throughout the Summer but 3 weeks ago I had the exact same issue you did. However, I noticed a dark line on the left side of my trunk which may have been a leak from one of the roof cylinders.

I won't use it again until I get some good advice from someone out there. If you get any answers out there please let me know.

Thanks, Erin.

I had the same problem with a 2011 I bought in April. I also noticed a dark stain on the left side of my trunk which probably means a slight leak.

Is my only course going to a Volvo dealer or are there other options that would save me money as opposed to the dealer?

Thanks.
