2008 C70 -- 2 1/2 years old -- (under warranty) -- wifes car:

we went out for a drive had top down: came home and tried to close, and top made a gawd awful noise -- would not close.

Error message in dash said; TOP IS UNLOCKED

eventually we kept trying to close, could hear some electrical sounds (motors trying to work) but we ended up with TOP MALFUNCTION - SEE MANUAL

we've never had trouble before today.

I know, it can be one of a zillion things - will take to the dealer first thing in the AM --

anyone had TOP issues, and what was the diagnosis?

 

well she's in at the dealer, but they can't figure it out yet --
I suspect theres a hydraulic pump issue -- they say the pumps check out - they checked software, and that checks out --

must not be easy diagnosing when you never see this stuff frequently . . .

 

preliminary diagnosis is the hydraulic supply line ? failed -
supposed to overnight one (arrives today) and replace -

we shall see . . .

 

was the problem resolved?

 

Its been a long frustrating ordeal, but the car should be ready tomorrow AM --
getting the replacement part from Sweden was unbelievably frustrating -- we were told numerous ETA's, until the part actually arrived at our dealership last Friday.

Fingers crossed - hope this issue is behind us.

 

Car's home - 3 weeks to the day since the malfunction -- in the big scheme, not a big deal, but we expect things fixed FAST nowadays!

What are the chances of a failed hydraulic hose for one of the roof pumps???? Freak thing -- bet we're the only ones this has ever happeened to.

Back to normalcy, until the next crisis. . . . .

 

Just happened to me as I'm on my way to Volvo in Edison, NJ. Same year C70-2008. I have less than 3k miles. I'm sure this will not be a simple fix. Will let you know what the cause of mine is. I can't open the trunk either.
