Default 2008 C70 no key release

Help.

I have a 2008 C70 that developed a problem of not always releasing the ignition key. This is most frequent on short trips. On long trips the key usually releases. I changed the key battery and the car battery. A new problem just started in that my garage door is sometimes activated when I unlock or start the car. Thanks in advance.

Make sure, sure, sure the car is all the way in park. All the way in park and the button on the shifter is all the way out. If that's not an issue, you may need to take it in to have a shift lock cable adjusted or replaced.

I have not had any Volvo newer than a '98 model so I may be wrong.

Thanks,
This does not help, the transmission is manual and the key is electronic.

Try appling dry graphite powder to the lock cylinder. Available @ autoparts store in small tube. Insert & extract key several times after application. Dry graphite will lube lock cylinder without adding any oil/water/fluids to internal cylinder. This will not effect any electronics either! Spraying key with PB Blaster to lightly coat it and inserting & extracting it several times works on most locks that may have lock cylinder pins hang up. Good luck, just passing along my past exsperience with auto & home locks. I have re-keyed thousands of home locks. DO NOT USE WD-40, it will add moisture to any lock cylinder!!!!!!

As I mentioned to the previous respondent, the lock and key are electronic, not mechanical, this is an electrical problem,

Sorry! Both keys? Maybe getting keys reprogrammed?
