Default Ignition Key slow to release

At first I could pull the key out and go. Now, after a few months, there is time to whistle a few random notes while waiting for the key to release it's final click and let me out of the car. Any ideas?

At first my wife thought tapping the brake was the trick...but it seems more of a set time delay or something. But I didn't find any threads on that topic.

Thanks for your advice.

Great, this allows me ask a related questions. Since buying my 850 last dec, my auto locks dont work and never have. I hear this funny noise at about 20kph but the locks dont lock, just the sound like they tried. Any Ideas? lock relay maybe?

Try a little but of WD-40 in the lock cylinder.

In addition to what Tech said, see if you can move the shifter during the time period that the key isn't releasing. If so, your shifter needs attention, usually a new button.

I would use a lithium based spray as compared to WD-40 if possible.

Also, try running the shifter from Park to L to Park like 15 times and see if that helps. I know it is a temporary fix for a PNP issue, but you never know.
