Hi,
I’ve recently purchased a 2013 C70 with 48k miles on it and not even 6 months after I bought it, I had a timing belt issue with possible valve damage! I keep my car in the garage and barely drive it! From everything I’m reading it seems the timing belt should last longer than that. Anybody else have had the same kind of problem? I attached the video of the timing belt being loose and there’s damage to at least 3 of the tooth! I’m hoping the valves are fine though bc they said that will cost 8k if it is in fact damaged!

Even a lightly used timing belt can often be taken out by a faulty tensioner or a rogue serpentine belt. For most 5 cylinder models, the service interval is 10 years or 120K miles (whichever comes first) and the service replaces both the belt and the tensioner. Its unfortunate that yours didn't make it to the service interval. A quick check with an inspection cam down the spark plug holes can check if any of the exhaust valves are bent.

My service guy insisted on replacing mine at 60 thousand miles. He is an independent shop that has serviced all three of my Volvos. I use him exclusively and he treats me very well. They keep complete records on the car as do I. I would also suggest an oil change every 3750 miles half way through the normal 7500 mile service interval. If you don't drive that much at least once a year. Find a good shop you trust and stick with them. These are good cars but they need good normal service. I hope your motor is not damaged.
