Default ABS - Fixed!

My ABS light would come on from time to time (mostly in the hot weather). Well after a while my brake light and ABS light would come on. Eventually my brake light and ABS light would come on, my odometer and tripometer would just display dashes and my speedometer would not work. Time for a new ABS unit. While I have seen the web page on fixing the ABS myself by re-flowing several solder joints, it looked like a pain to open up and reseal the module so it will remain weather tight. I ended up buying a "we rebuild your ABS" from a dealer with tons of positive feedback on Ebay. They provide shipping to them and return shipping as part of the auction and a life-time guarantee of the unit (assuming they can fix it). While the "buy it now price" was higher I got all of this for $30. They really aren't making a lot of money seeing as they paid for shipping x-country twice. Anyway, I used a 4mm socket to remove the unit, sealed up the plugs and ABS pump in plastic bags so I could use the car while the ABS was out being fixed and removal and reassembly was really easy to do (20 minutes in and out). Well, I just installed it and so far so good. The plastic parts looked good and it was sealed nicely with RTV (or an equivalent). I would highly recommend doing this if your ABS is giving you trouble...

Here is the thread that contains the URL for the DIY repair. Quite honestly opening up the module, scraping the silicone off, soldering and resealing so it is weather proof again, having someone that does a ton of these do the repair is money well spent: https://volvoforums.com/forum/volvo-v70-13/diy-abs-module-repair-15635/
