AC/Heat alternating sides
Ok please stick with me here.... I had my AC unit charged about two years ago. A few weeks ago I turned on the AC and hot air was blowing out of the drivers side and cold air was blowing out of the passenger side. My dad suggested switching it to heat then back to AC to see if that fixed it. It did, at first. Then later on the passenger side started blowing hot and the drivers side was blowing cold. Well, I shut off the AC because I can live without it but one evening about a week ago I left and office that was freezing so I thought I would blast the heat on my feet. Uh oh! The heat isn't working right either. I can't live without heat (although I have a few months until it is critical).
I first thought it might be the cabin temperature sensor but since it is alternating sides that doesn't make sense. It doesn't need a recharge because my heat is having an issue too. I have zero faith in my local Volvo dealer (I am in Virginia).
Last night when I tried to put the AC on the different vents weren't being operating right. I would hear them open & close with the force of air. Does this sound like a symptom of a bad compressor?
