buying 2001 C70...advice please!
I am seriously looking at a 2001 C70 convertible. It has 45,000 miles on it. The interior is good for that age car. However, the ride is HORRIBLE!! I know volvos ride sort of stiff but this one is just rough. Also, the back window apparently was leaking and the dealer tried to "glue" up the area around the window. The carfax report looks normal..lots of routine maintenance was done. Alternator has been replaced. There was one wreck reported but the report does not speficy what kind of wreck.
It will need new tires soon. They are asking $10,000 but I'm not prepared to offer anywhere near that much considering all that is wrong with the car and what it may need in the near future.
My questions are: What do I need to look for to know that the car is worth buying? do I need to take it to a auto shop for an inspection of some kind? What kinds of things am I looking at, as far as future problems?
this will simply be a "play" car, so It is not one I would depend on day in and out for transportation.
ANY advice is appreciated.
Thanks
Stacey
ps, I owned a 99 volvo in the past, which I bought new, and it was in the shop often for rotors, brake pads, electrical glitches, headlight issues and the "check engine/gas cap" problem.
