Default C70 '99: Passenger Seat Stuck Forward

My passenger seat adjustment mechanism has not worked since before I purchased the car about a year ago, which was no problem till about a week ago. My 85 pound daughter, while exiting the rear seating, collapsed the back rest forward and push...and low-and-behold...the seat slid forward. Unfortuantely...all the way forward, to where only the shortest of people can sit there.

Any ideas of how to pull the seat back, short of replacing the mechanism?

There is a micro switch on the hinge part of the seat close to the door. There is a spring to a metal plate looking think. The spring comes off because one of the tabs holding it breaks. Alot of times you can reach under there and roll the metal plate and get the seat to move back.

Default trying to id the switch

I've id'd two possible positions for the switch you reference. One is along the back end of the railing. The other is circluar around the railing itself, with a spring attached to it.

Are either of these the correct one?

No it is where the seat back and bottom meet. Just inside the swivel point.

Hey, my Pass seat will not do anything. It is the memory seat setup just like the driver side. Do you think the switch setup and the black box that the leads go into will switch with the driver seat, so I can find the defective part? The fuse is fine.

They should but have you found the micro switch I described in this post?
If not find that and close the switch and see if it all works then.

Default thanks and thanks again

Thank you Tech. I found the mirco switch. (to help others locate it, feel along the side of the seat facing the door, near the bottom the cover splits slightly. reach inside and you'll feel a solid circle metal ring that you can move. to the front of it, you can feel the switch. this will reactivate the seat adjustment controls.)

now, my question is: is there a way to rig it to work permanently?

There was a tech note that gave you instructions on where to mark and drill a hole and install a screw to connect the spring to and that would fix it for good.
