I'm a 1998 v70 owner and about to install the C70 Comet 17in wheels on my car. I'm thinking of putting on 225-50 size tires instead of the stock 225-45 in hopes of a more comfy ride for the station wagon. Any C70 owners try the 50 series tires? Think they will rub?

 

Just came back from the shop. He put on 50 series and they were right under the struts and when turned was right at the wheel well. So no go on the 50's..

 

Its too damn cold outside for me to check, but why not go with a smaller wheel? IF you want that wheel for the look, you're SOL. but if you just want a softer ride, go with a 16" wheel with a taller tire.

 

What do you mean I'm SOL if I want the wheel for looks? You don't like the looks of it?

I'm like most, I want looks along with the comfort. But I guess when I go to 17wheels, I have to sacrifice one. I'm getting the 225/45 installed tommorow..

 

Yeah you should go with a smaller sized tire. Like a 40.

 

Those wheels came on the c70 with 225/45..why would that not fit on a V70? Unless the wheel well area on the 2 cars are of different dimension? Are they?

 

Should work. But as you saw the 50's didn't.

The v70 I believe has a bigger wheel well, thusly they should work. You will probably have rubbing at full lock.

Thusly this is why I suggested the 40 series. Because more then likely you wont have rubbing at all even at full lock you might not.

 

What I meant was that if you want that wheel then you might have to sacrafice the ride quality. If you want ride quality then go with a smaller wheel.
I do like the looks of the wheel for the record.
