Default C70 Hardtop Roof

Has anyone had problems with the Hard Top Convertible roof. Motor issues, sticking, failing? Leaking?
I can't seem to find much info about it.

My 2008 C70 roof stopped working halfway and I am having a hard time finding someone to figure it out.

Amazing how little information is on this subject. I belong to a few forums for different cars, and find them very useful - not on this subject, though!

Default Convertible hard top warnings

Beware the cables! Those thin ropes that help everything move, can break! If they do, you might be in big trouble: the one on the passenger side broke and it took me months to find a replacement (Volvo does not make THAT one, anymore!!).

Check them for wear, missing guides and if the cables are fraying, lubricate them with wax or hand soap - maybe silicon, but I'm not sure of the effects of silicon on those artificial fibers.

If you're missing the guides, look for them at the ends of the cables, and snap them back into place. Then check them right away, after moving the top up & down to see if those guides popped out again.

Hi,

Try your Volvo dealer first. If they don't have it, try E-bay, and then, start looking at other Volvo parts sellers (usually they're dealers, too) in finding the cable.

Good Luck! Expect to pay about from $225 to $350 for it.

For installation, ask the Volvo dealers if they have REAL experience in stalling the cord. Shop around for the most experienced installer.

Cable has broken at the driver side most front connection site where it almost looks like three pieces converge. Assuming that I need the #12 piece in the Ebay listings.
Tedders looks like your cost estimate is right on the nose as either piece costs the same.

Any idea how much time a Volvo dealer would use as standard?

I agree. Can anyone point to anywhere we can all get versed in the Hardtop and all it's cords etc.

Would like to know as much as possible so I can talk intelligently with installer/repair guy.

Parts and Part numbers, schematics showing routing and tie down points etc.

Thanks for any help and info.

Default 2011 C70 convertible issue

It took me 3 tries to get my roof up and I noticed a black grease mark on the left side of my trunk that was never there before it happened. Is there a reservoir for fluids in the trunk that I could check?

As for checking a reservoir for the top, I do not think a regular guy can do that. Have your dealer check out what's happening, especially since it took three tries to get the hood up and closed. Don't drop it again until your dealer - and an experienced dealer - can check it out.

As for a list of cables, they're out there. Try searching on the parts diagrams for them. I've seen them; just don't have the pages saved.

Try these sites; it's a start:
https://usparts.volvocars.com/a/Volv...GR-379336.html

...And my bad: Volvo calls these things "ropes".

But yet, sometimes "cable" :

Nope; that cost varies according to each job, and difficulty. In replacing my right-hand side cable, part # 30787267, it cost me almost $1,000.00 (!) They had to fiddle with it for a few days to get it all right and working properly.
