Default C70 Headliner Repair

If you live in a relatively hot area and own a 2006-2013 Volvo C70, you may have experience walking out one day to get in your car, and finding that your rear headliner has fallen, now hanging in the perfect spot to block your rear visibility when driving. It may seem easy to just slap some glue on those clips and stick the headliner back up, but how would you hold it in place to set? And with hot car interior temps (reaching up to over 180F here in Arizona), how do you know your glue will hold up better than factory? Well for this project, you'll need a set of ratchet straps and some high heat glue or epoxy. Two sets of ratchet straps under 6ft long or so will do just fine. I'm using some JB Weld High Heat Epoxy, good up to 550F.

Step 1.) Clean and prep the clips, making sure they're grease free and relatively old-glue free. The fabric should be glue free as well and relatively free of lint and other dirt.
Step 2.) Prepare your ratchet straps to wrap around the panel. They will hook in underneath and contact the headliner, not the paint on top. Make sure they have enough slack so you have room to work.
Step 3.) This is the hard part. Or at least it is if you take too long... Open the top partially just until the rear glass panel has separated from the middle. Without turning off the car, set your ratchet straps around the panel with the fixed hooks close to the edge, so the the ratcheting end has room to move instead of hitting the edge going forward. Warning! DO NOT turn the car off or leave the top open partially too long, or else you will end up with perhaps the worst C70 issue which I address and solve here https://volvoforums.com/forum/volvo-...rience-110686/
Step 4.) Quickly close the top again making sure everything is locked, latched, and secure. your ratchet straps should hang loose but just start to support the headliner. This is where the fun begins.
Step 5.) Mix and apply your high temp adhesive to the clips in the roof panel. The high heat epoxy states it will cure faster when heat over 250F is applied, but it will still cure normally without this, so don't worry too much about time of day/year you do this.
Step 6.) Tighten down the straps and ensure the headliner is aligned and set properly. You may want to use a towel or blanket between the straps and headliner to better apply the force,
Step 7.) Let set and cure as needed. A minimum 24 hours is recommended, but more time never hurts. When you're ready to remove the ratchet straps, open the top partially like before and quickly remove. You know the drill by now.

And with all of that, your headliner should be back to better than new and set to hold in even the highest temp situations your vehicle will face. If there's anything you do differently or find better for this repair, go ahead and reply. I wish to make this information easier to find for the other DIY people out there that need help!
