Hello, I’ve searched as many of the keywords as possible and can’t find anything so I’m sorry if this has already been answered, but..

MOT failed as the SRS light wouldn’t stay off. First it said right airbag, then left, then right again. Mechanic told me the code was 0087 and to contact Volvo.

Volvo in Newcastle said I need an SRS Airbag Control Module but they don’t manufacture them anymore.

The legend that is Karl Sabin has sent me one with pictures of where he took it out so I can put it in in the right place, however an auto electrician said something about it needing calibrating and software transferring and other long words like that.

Has anyone got any experience with this? It’s a beautiful car with only 57k miles on it and it’s definitely worth keeping.

 

Not sure if the airbag control module is "paired" to the ECU - which means the shop may need to use their VIDA system to reprogram. You may want to see if there are any shops that can repair your existing SRS unit - this is more common to ABS controllers or CEMs (for example Xemodex in Canada does that). Did you have a dealer run their diagnostics on the SRS system to see if they can pull more details on what is failing? I'd also ask a dealer whether they can install/program a used replacement unit - otherwise searching for a shop that can rebuild yours may be the best bet.

Contact Volvo Erie parts for that information regarding using used parts. They might even have it and their warranty for used Volvo parts is excellent.
