Volvo C70 This sporty coupe has a three-piece retractable hardtop for unsurpassed fun whether the the top is up or down.

Can anyone help with an IMMOBILIZER problem? 09 C70 starts, runs then shuts off.

**UPDATE 12/28/2016 SOLVED ISSUE BY HITTING UNLOCK THEN LOCK FIVE TIME FROM KEYFOB AFTER BATTERY WAS CHARGED**

It has sat for a few weeks not driven...battery WAS dead.
Needed a jump start.
Car starts, runs for 5-10 seconds then shuts off.
Immobilizer error on main screen.

At that point it wont even click to start again.
Key remains stuck in ignition so you cant remove it when this happens!!
Key comes out no problem when immobilizer error is not on.

Also lock buttons dont work when immobilizer is on.

Is there a way to reset this or diagnose without going to the dealer?

09 C70.
Bone stock. No modifications.
Roughly 70k miles.

Thanks!

Default Thanks!

I'll try that. I can't seem to find the brain module location to unplug.

I read on a few other posts to try to unlock/lock from keyfob 5 times and checking the antenna ring on the keyfob or the ignition switch but all were for different Volvo models/years.

Just to help others that may stumble across this.

I'm guessing it was the voltage drop (from not being driven and battery charge dropping) that messed with the alarm.

Anyhow, after we finally got a charger on the battery,

LOCKING AND UNLOCKING FIVE TIMES EACH FROM THE KEYFOB WORKED!!

What a stupid and simple fix for days wasted researching and almost sending the car to the shop on a tow truck.

Next project is to figure out some type of hard-wired solar trickle charger.

Happy New Year everyone.

Check your battery. My '11 had the same issue before and I brought my battery to autozone and they checked out to be bad battery.
