Default CHECK ENGINE LITE

OK, whomever owned my car previously must have drove it like a little old lady--- which brings me to my point . . .

I drive like a crazy person as my bf would say. But that is beside the point. How do I un-train the car to NOT OVER REACT to my driving habits? I had to take the car into the Volvo dealer to get the transmission computer reset. (I have drivin' the car only 1 day) OK-- so-- because of my driving habits the car went into winter/wet (flashing arrow) gear and the check engine lite came on. WHAT A NUISANCE!!! Also, if I have to retrain the vehicle to my driving techniques then how long will it take the car to adjust? ** I know what you're thinking.** So don't drive like a crazy person. Well 20 + years that I have been driving isn't that easy to change over night. I will back off and drive it like it's made of gold or something but for how long?

The reason I bought this car is for the joy ride, geez.

Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

You'll want to disconnect the battery for maybe 10 minutes. That should reset the ECU.

See if that works...

It usually doesn't work on the new cars.
It will take some time to adjust.
