Default computer issues

2009 C70. 140.000 miles. While driving, engine died. All dash lights lit up. Put her in neutral and coasted to a stop. Tried to restart, nothing. ODB said NO codes. Tried to jump start it. Nothing. Got her home. Dash said, Immobilizer Try Start Again. Googled issues. Wiggled the computer connections under passenger dash. Hooked the jumper cables back up. She started up. All seems ok. This is the second time its happened. Is the computer going out? And can the computer be tested? I've had the car for 10 years. NO major issues. Love the car Now the dash says, Immobilizer Try Start Again. With no codes on the ODB.

more likely the connector / wiring than the computer. Yes computers can be tested - see if Xemodex offers such a service for the module in question. In the interim you may want to try using some electronics cleaner on the connector and the computer pins and reseat the unit.

Come to find out, the CEM card is bad. We did reset it a few weeks ago. AND, the wipers started acting up as well. Another indication of the CEM going bad. As I was told. We will see in a day or two...

CEMs have relays that can get sticky or burn so that makes sense to me. I do know Xemodex does offer a repair service for CEMs ~ $550 which is way less than the dealer install/programming for new device
