I can't operate the remote fuel door using the lever on the driver's door on my 99 C70 ... I have to use the cord in the trunk. There is no sound coming from the gas door area when the lever is pressed.

Also, the button on the driver's door to lock both doors does not work (the one on the passenger door does, though).

I have read that the gas door is somehow connected to the locking system, so I was wondering if these are possibly related.

I suppose I could replace the lock switch first and see if they both start working.

 

Has the door panel been off lately?

 

No - the panel has not been off recently.
Are you thinking that perhaps the switch came loose or was not reconnected?

I will probably first try cleaning the switch ... I'm going to hate to pay $175 for one of those things.

 

Those 2 are usually not connected.
Also clean the plug in the door jam. You will see a little torxes screw. Loosen it and turn the plastic part to undo the connection. Also inspect the pins good. One might be pulling out.

 

There is a weird thing that happens sometimes, if you look at the passenger door switch, there is a toggle switch for locking/unlocking the doors. If that switch sticks in the lock or unlock position, it will prevent the entire lock system from working, which include the gas door and trunk.

I got it!

The connector had come off of the back side of the power door button ... the toggle one that is a master door lock.

This fixed the door locking problem, of course, as well as the fuel door issue (weird).
(The trunk was still working all the time, though.)
