Hi, new guy here
Hi guys, Im 100% noob to Volvos. Im picking up my first an 01 C70 on monday. I'm coming out of a Grand Cherokee. Anyway, I just wanted to join and say hi, I will prowling the forums for info and such.
But, since I started this post I might as well ask a question or 2. I know cars have their own little bugs. What should I look out for on my C70 HPT? It has 68k miles.

RE: Hi, new guy here
welcome Torkk, i'm new to the volvo scene myself and these guys here are very well informed and cool peeps.
if your a DIY guy you might want to invest in somespecial tools that the vendors can provide you with on here, like torx bits for sure.
timing belt changes are right around the corner for you at 80k. the vets on here can help you with anything else cause i'm still a boot at this

RE: Hi, new guy here
Is it a coupe or convertible?? The seats have common microswitch issue a little springs can fix it, window regulator once in a blue moon, ETM (throttle unit), A/C Evaporator leaks, stripped cable for seat back motors. If it is a convertible will have converitble tops issues with potentiometers (note: if it failed and manual crank is used to close roof up follow the steps closely in owner manual, if not can damage motors and linkages) and the arms foe locking roof in place are fragile and microswitch may break off of it.. (EXPANSIVE $1800 for 2 arms) hope it helps Other than that not much issues with the car other than normal wear and tear.

RE: Hi, new guy here
Your 2001 c70 recently had a recall re: ETM. Not only has the warranty been extended to 100,000 miles but your auto should be taken to the DEALER to insure that the recall recalibration work has indeed been performed............no charge to you. This is important not only as a safety issue but for a reliability issue. Make an appointment TODAY. Other than that, you have a killer stereo, a lot of straight line performance (terrible torque steer however), luxury interior, and lastly an attractive exterior. Don't ease up on maintenance or the auto will eat you alive!
