Halogen Bulb Recommendations?
Have a 2001 with OEM bulbs looking for DIY recommendations for low beam H7 and fog H3 upgrades without major modification...
Can I use a PIAA higher watt (100W) like I find on eBay without damage to plastic and other materials? Others are out there in the 55W range and say "bright white" and such all marketing I need to know based on experience which are the bulbs that will give me the reliable running light and strong fogs I need here in Colorado winter!
DOT or "other" I'll take my chances just don't want to damage anything...

I had Piaa's in my C70 untill I went to HIDs, I also have them in my 2 motorcycles and have had Piaa's in my GMC Typhoon for 15 years ( driving and fog) .
I have always changed my car blubs to Piaa for headlights and fog/driving lights.
Never had a problems. I live in the country where there are no street lights and recommand getting "white " bulbs instead of off-color lights.
I pick the Piaa buld I want and then "google shop" for the best price.

Just shared this on the "what did you do to your car" string already, but thought I'd share with V70 people too since I'm impressed with the improvement. After using silverstar ultras for a while and replacing them way too often, I installed solux bulbs for my low-beam, high-beam and fog lights. They are not illegal nor obnoxiously white/blue, but are definitely briter and seem to have more contrast like they claim. So I love how they perform so far (I live in the country and its pretty dark). I hope they last 2x-4x longer than the ultra's as they claim.
If you don't want to spend the money. Then just get some Silverstars and call it a day. But if you actually want an upgrade then go full HID's for the LOW's and the FOGLIGHT's.
Why HIDs? Because they produce more light then any Halogon you could put in your vehicle. For the LOW's use a 4300K-6000K HID bulb and for the foglights a 4300K-5000K will do the trick as 3000K HIDs are the same output as a Halogen. Now your going to ask when not going to a higher "K". What a lot of people don't get is if you go over
6000K your actually loosing light output and only getting color change.
4300K/5000K = Pure White, 5500K/6000K = Blue, 8000K+ = Purple and less light output.
DDM Slim HID Kit (35w & 55w)
That link above is to a great company and you can't beat the prices nor the service.
