Hey guys,

How much boost is there in a hpt c70, a 99 in particilular. What about a lpt for curiosity sake.... and can u increase boost in a light pressure and get the same results?

I do not know at what boost the hpt and lpt run, but I know that you could not simply up the boost on the lpt to make the same power. I don't know if they are technically the same engine or not, but even if they are, you would need at least new injectors and the engine management system re-configured/replaced to get the right A/F mixture in there.

The boost is usually set at 5-7 from the factory.

 

The 5-7 PSI, sounds more like an LPT engine

HPT should be like 10 or something.

Because I know my 2.4L I5 LPT 99 S70 awd stock was 5-7 PSI.

Of course the HPT will gain more over LPT in Torque and Hp. However you can up the boost on an LPT model. I did. Just get a ECU upgrade. Check into IPD, RICA, Upsolute, Speed Tuning USA. I have the Speed Tuning USA ECU upgrade on my 99 S70 awd and have it raised with their 12PSI program.

You can also try a MBC (Manual Boost Controller). However I don't recommend it, because it isn't as accurate and not reliable. The ECU upgrade is.

You will also want to upgrade your exhaust system for good measure to gain full potential from any ECU upgrade. A 3" downpipe to a 2.5" free flowing exhaust system if your not planning on upgrading your TURBO. 3" downpipe and full 3" catback if you are upgrading your TURBO.

What gauge you get?

 

i needed something to monitor the manual boost controller, running 13.5 psi right now, so i installed a sunpro vacum/boost gauge. not sure of the permanent placement

 

We just got done installing a used engine in a car that a Cust. had blown up.
It is a 1995 850. The kid installed parts and was messing with stuff and burned a bearing.

After installing the motor and testdriving WOW that thing is fast. Then look at the Boost guage and WOW it is running 16PSI BOOST. That is on a Junk Yard engine just dropped in and key turned.

The car has the stock computer as well.

You did a nice job with the installation! Your auto certainly looks great..............if only you did not have to have that hunk of metal called a license plate on the front!

well yea...that sure is staying on, i got 17 tickets for jsut that, and i lost my patience with that so i just left it on now.

 

My son has a BMW and he refuses to put a license plate on the front. He has it sitting on his dash so you can see it from the front. That really does dectract from the look of your car, but it still looks great!

 

Ahhhh those of us who flaunt the law!! I do not place a 'year' sticker on my rear tag as I have a personalized tag and the sticker detracts from the appearance. You would think I would grow up!

 

for the plate in the window...had a looooooong conversation with the cop when i had it there. he said that if they really wanna be diks about it they can evn go as far as attemped homicide as the plate can be used as a weapon if it flies away from that window. and i guess that does make sense too, that plate can do some mad damage if it goes flying at someone.

 

Move to Pennsylvania. No front plates there.
