So I am new to this Volvo stuff. I just bought a used 2002 C70, Is it common to have the idle pulse? And now I am just noticing that the battery light is on?? could that be a glitch or is my charging system not working properly? when testing the battery how much voltage should the alternator kick back to the battery?

Your Throttle Control Module (TCM) could need cleaning. Also, if you have the NA engine and the Magneti-Marelli module there was a recall and they are covered under a 10 year, 200,000 mile warranty. Call a Volvo dealer with the VIN and see if your car is covered under the recall.
