Looking at a 2008 C70 -what should I look for
I'm looking at buying a 2008 C70 T5 convert with 59000 miles on it. Two owners, private party sale. Very clean car, body, paint, interior all in excellent shape. No accidents. There are regular oil changes etc - second owner has owned five years and put on about 5K a year as second car. Always garaged, top works perfectly, no leaks, drain holes are not clogged, it has been detailed.
I would like to know what might be the trouble areas and what to watch out for. It has new front brake rotors and discs, paint records are mainly from first owner at Volvo dealers, Car drives very well - seems to be a good one. I'm concerned about the timing belt issue - it has not been done but it is under 60K. I realize it is also over the ten year mark, so should I consider doing it now, preventively, along with pulleys and tensioner? Any idea what that should cost - roughly. And what would it cost to add in a water pump?
I've owned all kinds of cars - since 1952 when I started driving at 15. This would be my first Volvo. In my area, Chicago, they have a rep for running a long time and being expensive to fix. I have a good independent shop that does quality work who can do about anything, and I want a convert, which narrows my choices. Thanks for any tips you can give me.
